The only way we can make a difference in the number of people experiencing homelessness is to provide housing options on a mass scale in locations throughout the city, and that’s what the master plan will accomplish.” -Mayor Darrell Steinberg

The Need

Up to 11,000 people experienced homelessness at some point during the year; most of the people were sleeping outdoors in Sacramento.

The Solution

California CARES for Veterans and Hire Hope Learning Academy is partnering with the City of Sacramento to address the homeless population issue with a Tiny Home solution!

Benefits of a tiny home:

– Low cost to build

– Can be built quicker

– Easier maintenance

– Lower energy use

– Lower carbon footprint

Our Process

Hire Hope Learning Academy has a program to build Tiny Homes. Hire Hope teaches construction technology to at-risk youth, adults, and veterans, adding to Sacramento’s workforce. -The training program will positively impact their long-term career trajectory providing:

-Access to construction jobs.

-An understanding of the soft skills needed to retain empowerment.
