EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OVERVIEW

California CARES for VETERANS’s Mission is to provide veterans and disadvantaged populations with the vocational training, job security and housing they need to thrive.

California CARES for VETERANS Vision

Ardell Harrison, the founder of both California CARES for VETERANS and Hire Hope, developed the strategy of building an ecosystem that can take a veteran from job training to job placement. As the manager of assets for a large corporation, he has the responsibility to buy and acquire land for the purposes of investing.

We are a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization working in collaboration with the Compassionate Capitol Region (CCR) that has developed a network of over 50 regional organizations. We are proud to join the fight to strengthen the social and economic fabric of our region.

We are dedicated to the well-being of the veteran population, providing displaced veterans with vocational and home placement and a new way of life. CCR’s partnership allows us to provide the soft skills that will help ensure veterans can successfully complete their vocational training, stay employed, and build a stable home and community life.

Our program provides housing when needed within a supervised and case-managed administration. Within this ecosystem, veterans complete appropriate soft skill training through a CCR’s Wellness Program. Our veteran vocational training program provides a unique opportunity to focus on valued skillset and community leadership to produce more robust outcomes.

Compassionate Capitol Region

Unique in Northern California, Compassionate Capitol Region (CCR) is supported by over 50 organizations (and growing) from diverse community sectors, providing soft skill development training for individuals, groups and government agencies for the purposes of building productive citizens and stronger, inclusive communities.

CCR executes on this charter through a variety of programs and partners. One of which is CCR’s partnership with California CARES for VETERANS and Hire Hope. It provides a customized version of CCR’s Wellness Program that offers a comprehensive curriculum of training and education in effective communication, social and personal responsibility, conflict resolution, emotional balance, teamwork skills and mindfulness to training center participants as well as the public at large.

CCR is a member of the international Compassionate Cities Initiative and a board advisor to Compassionate California, all of which are part of the Charter for Compassion.

Successful Pilot Project

Currently a pilot project is underway and has already met with success. With a team of four veterans, we’ve completed construction of a 4 bedroom/3 bath home located on 8380 Mc Nie Avenue, Sacramento Ca. 95828.

Our Purpose

It is our intention that the organization will help veterans to be self-sustaining in providing them with the tools they need to succeed. Every person deserves a home to live in. Every person deserves an opportunity to learn a craft that will help them to become a contributing member of society. We understand that veterans are valuable citizens who have specific needs that, when met, can transform their lives and the health of their community. The programs that have been presented to you will fulfill that purpose.
